Model Stef Opens Up About Addiction, Hopes to Inspire Others

Model Stef has stepped away from his career and public life to confront a personal battle with addiction, and is now sharing his story in a moving TikTok video and accompanying message. The 26-year-old says he’s eager to speak openly about his experience, hoping to dismantle the stigma surrounding addiction and offer support to others who might potentially be struggling.
For a long time, Stef viewed his addiction as a personal failing, a source of deep shame. “I saw addiction for a long time as a very large weakness,” he explained.However, his perspective has shifted. He now recognizes addiction not as a character flaw, but as a challenge that can affect anyone, regardless of age or perceived success.
While recognizing the problem wasn’t the biggest hurdle, Stef says accepting his situation was.he found it difficult to seek help, hampered by the negative connotations he associated with addiction. this internal struggle was compounded by a feeling of isolation.”I didn’t know anyone my age who openly spoke about addiction,” Stef shared. “That made me feel very alone.” He believes knowing he wasn’t the only young person facing this battle would have been incredibly helpful, even amongst those who appear to have perfect lives online.
Now, Stef is steadfast to change the narrative. “Shame and silence don’t help. Talking does,” he asserts. His message to those battling addiction is one of hope and solidarity: ”Addiction doesn’t have to be the end,and recovery is possible. You don’t have to go through this alone.”
Stef’s valiant decision to share his story is a powerful reminder that vulnerability can be a strength, and that open conversation is crucial in breaking down the barriers that prevent people from seeking help.
