St. Petersburg, FL – A St. Petersburg woman faces charges after authorities say she stole $190,000 from an elderly man under her care. michell Tonneshia Holloman, 35, was arrested by St. Petersburg Police and accused of exploiting the victim, who was receiving medical care at a VA Hospital and unable to manage his own affairs.
Holloman, a longtime family friend who lived with the victim, allegedly abused her position of trust as his Power of Attorney between February and December of last year. the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office arrest affidavit details accusations that she misappropriated the victim’s funds, assets, and property for personal use. This case highlights the vulnerability of elderly individuals and the potential for financial exploitation, a growing concern as the population ages.
According to police, holloman used the victim’s existing credit cards and fraudulently opened new accounts in his name, even financing a vehicle without his benefit. Investigators found no evidence that any of the purchases made with the victim’s funds were for his care or well-being.
