PS5 to Receive Parasite Eve-Inspired Horror RPG, parasite Mutant, in 2026
Chongqing-based team IceSitruuna has announced Parasite Mutant for PS5, a science-fiction horror RPG heavily inspired by Square Enix’s classic PlayStation title, Parasite Eve. the game is currently slated for release in 2026.
While fans continue to hope for a revival of the Parasite Eve franchise from Square Enix itself, Parasite Mutant aims to capture the spirit of the original with a modern take. The game centers on psionic agent Nova, dispatched to a desolate island city overrun with monstrous creatures, where she will confront a fate-altering mission.
IceSitruuna describes Parasite Mutant as featuring an “Active Time Chains” battle system, a direct homage to Parasite Eve’s Active Time Bar. Players can freely move and dodge, but must wait for a gauge to fill before initiating attacks, mirroring the strategic combat of the original.
Additional features include a “semi-realistic” anime art style with an optional CRT filter for a retro aesthetic, unlockable outfits, and New Game + support.
The proclamation arrives as fans mark over two decades sence the release of Parasite Eve II and continue to call for a continuation of aya Brea’s story. Parasite Mutant offers a promising alternative for those seeking a similar experience on the PS5.
