Barcelona, Spain – A dramatic turn of events unfolded at the Montmelo Circuit during the Catalunya MotoGP Sprint Race 2025, as race leader Alex Marquez crashed out in the 10th corner with just three laps remaining, handing the lead to his brother, Marc Marquez.
The 12-lap sprint Race, held Saturday night (september 6th) saw Alex Marquez start from pole position, followed by Fabio Quartararo and marc Marquez. Francesco Bagnaia faced a challenging race, starting from 21st on the grid.Alex Marquez initially pulled ahead, but a mid-race battle saw Quartararo and Marc Marquez vying for second. Contact between Quartararo and Marc Marquez occurred early in the second lap,with Marc ultimately gaining the position.
Several riders experienced crashes during the race. Jorge Martin and Franco Morbidelli fell in the eighth round, while Aldeguer and Bezzecchi crashed in the fifth corner, with Aldeguer making contact with Bezzecchi. Prior to his crash, Alex Marquez had established a cozy 1.1-second lead over Marc Marquez, while Quartararo trailed Marc by nearly two seconds.
With Alex Marquez’s late-race fall, Marc Marquez now leads, poised to secure victory in the Catalunya MotoGP Sprint Race.
