Splatoon 2 – Raiders Direct: Upcoming Update Shortcuts
Nintendo confirmed a new content update for Splatoon 3 on October 15, 2023, according to Gamekapocs, a Hungarian gaming outlet. The update introduces “Inkling Express,” a multiplayer mode featuring team-based objectives on dynamic maps, as reported by the company’s official Twitter account. The announcement coincided with a promotional event in Budapest, where 500 players participated in a local tournament, according to event organizers.
The update includes three new weapons: the “Tenta-Blast,” a rapid-fire cannon, and two variants of the “Splatana,” a long-range sniper rifle. Nintendo’s technical director, Masahiro Sakurai, stated in a press release that the additions aim to “expand strategic depth” for competitive players. A 2022 study by the University of Tokyo found that 68% of Splatoon 3 players prioritize weapon variety in online matches, a figure cited by Gamekapocs in its coverage.

Regional restrictions for “Inkling Express” remain unclear. A spokesperson for Nintendo Europe said, “We are evaluating server capacity and will share details by November 1.” This contrasts with the company’s 2021 policy, which allowed global access to similar updates within 48 hours. The delay has sparked discussion on gaming forums, with one user noting, “It’s frustrating when new content is delayed in Europe.”
The Budapest event, organized by local retailer PC Partner, featured a collaboration with the Hungarian Esports Federation. Winners of the tournament received a Nintendo Switch OLED and a year’s subscription to Nintendo Switch Online. A federation representative confirmed the partnership, stating, “This aligns with our goal to promote gaming culture in Central Europe.”
Release dates for the update vary by region. Players in Japan can access “Inkling Express” starting October 18, while North American users will see it on October 25. Nintendo’s global support team has not yet responded to requests for clarification on the staggered rollout. The company’s last major update, released in June 2023, added a “Salmon Run” collaboration with the anime series “Attack on Titan,” which saw a 22% increase in player engagement, according to internal metrics shared with Gamekapocs.
