Sony Interactive Entertainment to release PS5 Prism Collection accessories
Sony Interactive Entertainment will release the Prism Collection on February 4, 2027, bringing transparent hardware back to the PlayStation 5 lineup with a line of semi-transparent accessories priced at $84.99 USD for controllers and $74.99 USD for console covers. The new accessories revive a design trend popularized in the late 1990s, updating it with high-gloss finishes and metallic center panels designed to expose the internal circuitry, vibration motors, and structural components of current-generation hardware.
Prism Collection Features Three Distinct Colorways
The collection spans three distinct colorways: Flare Orange, Emerald Green, and Graphite Gray. The Flare Orange model utilizes a translucent material that produces a subtle rose tint where layers overlap, while the Emerald Green option pairs a deep hunter green with a silky finish. Graphite Gray provides a cooler, smokier aesthetic intended to match the streamlined industrial design of the base console. Each DualSense wireless controller in the series features a high-gloss transparent shell that extends across the rear grip, complemented by a contrasting metallic center panel that separates the transparent housing from standard console elements.
Pre-Orders Open November 10 with Global Pricing
Pre-orders for the Prism Collection are scheduled to open on November 10, 2026, ahead of the February 4, 2027 retail launch, according to release data tracked by PlayStation. In domestic markets, Sony set the recommended retail price at 129,000 won for the DualSense wireless controller and 115,800 won for the matching PS5 console cover, matching the global tier of roughly $85 for the controller and $75 for the cover. While the DualSense controllers will see a broad global rollout through participating retailers and PlayStation Direct, the matching console covers will be supplied in limited quantities, with exact availability varying by country and region.
Designers Reinterpret Transparent Controllers for PS5
Many fans have been waiting for the return of transparent controllers,
stated Leo Cardoso, who managed color, material, and finish design alongside Satoshi Aoyagi. While reviving the design sensibility that gained huge popularity in the late 1990s, we wanted to reinterpret it in a modern way so that it naturally blends with the design of the PS5 rather than simply recreating the past.
The DualSense wireless controller applies a high-gloss transparent finish all the way to the back, allowing you to directly peer into the intricate technology and structure contained within while maintaining its signature clean solid color design,
added Satoshi Aoyagi, detailing the CMF team’s approach. We applied metallic material to the central cover to provide a natural contrast with the transparent material, through which we completed the sophisticated and luxurious design unique to the PS5.

Lineup Exclusions
However, the professional-grade DualSense Edge model was not included in the announced lineup and lacks a transparent finish, drawing criticism from some users.
