Gangtok, Oct 26 : the Salghari-Zoom Constituency Level Committee (CLC) of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) swiftly responded today to criticism of the state’s healthcare system leveled by Komal Chamling, daughter of former Chief Minister Pawan Chamling. The response follows Chamling’s statements regarding the October 20th death of 19-year-old Jeewan Sarki, who was pronounced “brought dead” upon arrival at Jorethang Community Health Centre (CHC).
Anup Rai, Youth Convener of the SKM CLC for salghari-Zoom, joined by Jorethang Nagar Panchayat Councilor Samten Moktan and Vice Convener Ruben Subba, released a joint video statement denouncing Chamling’s allegations. They urged her to refrain from politicizing the tragedy, emphasizing the sensitivity of the situation given the personal loss experienced by Sarki’s family.
adding to the statement,Shivam Majhi and Kundan Rai,roommates of the late Jeewan Sarki, along with friends Milan Chettri and Kushal rai, shared their firsthand account of the events surrounding the incident.
SKM representatives stressed that while Sarki’s death was profoundly sad, efforts to exploit it for political gain were “unwarranted and disrespectful to the deceased and his family.”
