Skellefteå has released Tre Kronor’s WC center Oscar Lindberg from the contract with Swiss Bern.
Oscar Lindberg was born and raised in Skellefteå and has the city’s pride as the parent club.
– It will be magical, I have missed it incredibly much. It is very nice to have this done. Coming home has been on the back burner for a few years. Me and the family have felt more and more that we want to live full time in Skellefteå, so it feels great to come home, says Oscar Lindberg.
Expect him to get jersey number 24 back in the black and yellow suit.

Impressed center line-up
Skellefteå’s center side with Oscar Lindberg, Pär Lindholm, Jonathan Johnsson, Linus Lindström and Elias Stenman is probably the strongest in the SHL.
– Many of us have been waiting for Oscar Lindberg’s homecoming. That’s why it feels great to be done with him. He has a high skill level and can contribute both ways. With him, we get an important piece of the puzzle in the hunt for SM gold in the coming years, says sports manager Erik Forssell.
Last season, Skellefteå finished second in the regular season behind Växjö and lost the SM final against Smålandsklubben 4–1 in matches.
For the coming season, Skellefteå has mainly lost Andreas Wingerli, Tom Kühnhackl, Linus Högberg and Albin Sundsvik.
The only previous new acquisition was the power forward Anton Heikkinen from Mora.
Success in the national team
Oscar Lindberg was involved in winning the SM gold with Skellefteå in 2013 before he left for the New York Rangers.
During the ten seasons abroad, there have also been games in Vegas Golden Knights, Ottawa Senators, Zug, Dynamo Moscow and Bern.
The merit list also includes WC gold with Three Crowns in 2013 in Stockholm and 2017 in Cologne.
At the WC in Tampere and Riga in May, Oscar Lindberg and Pär Lindholm were the leading Swedish centers.
Skellefteå has not yet announced anything about veteran forward Joakim Lindström this season.
The captain and point forward Oscar Möller is out indefinitely due to fatigue.
In the first training match on August 17, Luleå will come to Skellefteå.
In the premiere round, newcomer Modo awaits at home.
