Singer D4vd Linked to Death of Missing Teen Celeste Rivas
LOS ANGELES – Singer D4vd, whose legal name is David Burke, is under investigation following the identification of remains found in his impounded Tesla as those of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, who was reported missing from Lake Elsinore, California. Authorities confirmed the identification to NBC News on September 17.
The revelation was made on September 8 after Hollywood Tow workers reported a strong odor emanating from the vehicle. Police opened the front trunk, finding the remains in a bag. Law enforcement sources told NBC News the remains were not intact.
Rivas’ brother,Matthew Rivas,told NBCLA that his sister knew the singer and was last seen on her way to a movie with him before disappearing.
D4vd’s world tour, which began August 5, was underway in Minneapolis at the time of the discovery. The tesla had been abandoned in the Hollywood Hills for over a month, according to neighbors. the tour,including a scheduled Los angeles show at the Greek Theater,was later cancelled.
D4vd rose to prominence with viral hits on TikTok, where he has 3.6 million followers, leading to record deals with Darkroom and Interscope Records. He released his debut album, “Withered,” in april and embarked on the tour shortly after. The singer, originally from Queens, New York, relocated to Texas in his early teens and initially gained a following streaming online games. He explained in an interview with the Zach Sang Show that the “4” in his name is a nod to four cinematic universes he is developing and a tactic for search-engine optimization.
The Los Angeles Police Department is currently treating the case as a death investigation.
