Sheridan Park Shooting: Chicago Man Dead, Woman Injured – ABC7 Chicago

A shooting in Chicago’s Sheridan Park neighborhood late Friday night resulted in the death of an 18-year-old man adn injuries to a 27-year-old woman, according to Chicago Police. The incident occurred in the 1200-block of west Sunnyside Avenue.

This shooting adds to a continuing pattern of gun violence in Chicago, raising concerns among residents and prompting an ongoing investigation by Area Three detectives. The case underscores the city’s persistent challenges with crime and the impact on local communities, as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the event and bring those responsible to justice.

Police responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 11:50 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Stephan R. Hammond, 18, lying unresponsive in the street with a gunshot wound to the head. He was instantly transported to illinois Masonic Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A 27-year-old woman was also found at the scene suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm. She received medical attention and was listed in good condition at Illinois Masonic Hospital.

investigators recovered four firearms from the location of the shooting.As of Saturday morning, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains active. Police have not released additional details regarding the shooting at this time.
