Serbia Defeats Czech Republic; Latvia Secures 1/8 Final Spot

Serbia Defeats czech Republic, Latvia Advances to Round of ​16 in European Championship

Serbia secured ⁢a decisive victory over the ​Czech Republic on Monday, winning 82-60 (27-5, 18-18, 16-20, ⁤21-17). Filip Petrushev led the Serbian scoring with 13 points,while Nikola Milutinov contributed 12 points⁤ and seven rebounds. For ⁢the Czech Republic, Jaromir Bohachik and jan Zidek⁣ each ‍scored ‌nine points, with Zidek also adding five rebounds.

Also in Group ‍A, Turkey defeated Estonia 84-64 in Riga, and Latvia overcame Portugal with a score of 78-62.

with‍ four wins in as many games, both Turkey and Serbia have⁢ topped Group A. latvia’s‍ win against Portugal ⁣guarantees their advancement to the‌ elimination tournament, joining Turkey and Serbia. Estonia and Portugal each have one win, while the Czech Republic has lost all four of their matches and are eliminated from contention ⁤for the semi-finals.

Latvia ​will conclude their Group A play against the Czech Republic on Wednesday.

Meanwhile,in Group B,Montenegro defeated Sweden 87-81,Germany dominated Great Britain 120-57,and Lithuania edged out Finland 81-78.​ Germany currently leads‌ Group B with four wins, followed by Lithuania and Finland with three wins each. Montenegro and Sweden each have one win, while Great Britain has⁢ lost all four games.The second-place team in Group B will join ⁢Latvia in the round of 16.

The European Championship Finals feature 24 teams ⁢competing across four groups in Riga, Tampere, Katowice,​ and Limassol throughout late August and ⁤early September.⁣ The top ⁢four teams from each⁢ group will advance to the playoffs in Riga, where the‌ medal winners will be resolute⁤ in mid-September. The semifinals will pit the winners of ‍Groups A & B⁣ against⁢ the winners of Groups C & D.
