Saturn to Shine Brightest This September: Closest Approach in 2025
Bangkok, Thailand – Skywatchers are in for a treat this September 21st, as saturn will reach its closest approach to Earth in 2025. Saturn will be visible in the eastern sky after sunset and remain visible throughout the night. Observers may be able to view the planet with the naked eye, appearing as a bright, steady point of light.
The Royal Thai Army will host a free public viewing event on Sunday,September 21st,from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at five locations: Sirindhorn Astronomy Observatory in Mae Rim District,Chiang Mai Province; Chalerm phrakiat 7 in Nakhon Ratchasima; Khon Kaen; chachoengsao; and Songkhla.
For those unable to attend in person, the National Research Institute of Astronomy (NARIT) will broadcast the event live on their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/naritpage) and YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@narit_thailand).
Saturn will remain visible in the night sky until around February 2026, though not as prominently as during its closest approach.
