A man was killed early Saturday morning in the San José neighborhood of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Another man was wounded in the shooting.
Police responded to a call received through the 9-1-1 Emergency System reporting gunfire on Blanes Street at approximately 6:43 a.m., according to a police report. Upon arrival, officers found the body of a man with gunshot wounds. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
The injured man was transported by paramedics to a local hospital emergency room for treatment. His condition is currently unknown.
Agents from the San Juan Homicide Division and the on-duty prosecutor are investigating the incident. This killing, along with a double homicide reported the previous night in Yabucoa, brings the total number of homicides in Puerto Rico this year to 79.
