San Diego Set for Sunny & Warm Labor Day Weekend – Beachgoers Advised to Check Rip Currents
SAN DIEGO, CA – August 29, 2025 – San Diego County residents can expect clear skies and warmer-than-average temperatures throughout the Labor Day weekend, offering ideal conditions for outdoor activities. The National Weather service forecasts high temperatures ranging from the mid-70s to the lower 80s near the coast on Sunday.
Beachgoers will also enjoy agreeable water temperatures, predicted to be between 70 and 74 degrees. The pleasant weather marks a stark contrast to ThursdayS rainfall brought by Tropical Storm Juliette, with Friday morning already showcasing cloudless skies.
“It will be nice and pretty out there,” said forecast meteorologist Lauren Villafane, adding that temperatures are expected to be approximately five degrees above average for this time of year.
A long-period south swell is anticipated to bring elevated surf to San Diego beaches from Saturday through Monday. The weather service advises those heading to the coast to consult with lifeguards regarding potential rip currents.Wave heights are expected to be in the 3-to-5-foot range, with occasional sets reaching 6 feet, before diminishing on Tuesday.Looking ahead, Villafane noted that monsoonal moisture may return around Tuesday, though any resulting rain or thunderstorms are likely to remain confined to the mountains and deserts.
