Samsung’s Galaxy XR Headset Details Surface: Boasts Industry-Leading Display & Advanced Tracking
Seoul, South Korea – Leaked specifications reveal complete details about Samsung’s forthcoming Galaxy XR headset, positioning it as a high-end competitor in the emerging spatial computing market. The device, expected to launch initially in South Korea on October 21st, features a cutting-edge 4K micro-OLED display with approximately 29 million pixels and a pixel density of 4,032 pixels per inch – exceeding the 3,386 PPI offered by Apple’s Vision Pro.
The headset will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 processor and run Samsung’s new One UI XR platform, specifically designed for immersive experiences. Audio will be delivered through spatial audio and dual speakers, while a suite of internal and external sensors will enable precise hand, eye, and voice tracking.
Samsung plans to include two dedicated Galaxy XR controllers, offering six degrees of freedom, analog sticks, and haptic feedback for intuitive interaction within virtual environments.
Leaked images, shared by android Headlines, showcase the headset’s design, which incorporates six front cameras, an LED light, a power connector, air vents, and detachable light shields. The user interface closely resembles Samsung’s familiar One UI, providing access to popular applications like YouTube, Netflix, Google Maps, and Samsung’s own Camera and Gallery apps.
The Galaxy XR is reported to weigh approximately 545 grams and offers up to two hours of battery life for general use, or 2.5 hours during video playback. An optional external battery pack is also suggested in leaked renders, though specific runtime improvements remain unknown. Comfort features include an adjustable head strap and internal cushioning, alongside built-in two-way speakers.
Details regarding storage capacity, RAM, and wireless connectivity have not yet been disclosed.
Industry reports indicate a potential price range of 2.5 million to 4 million Korean won (approximately $1,800 to $2,900), placing the Galaxy XR between apple’s $3,500 Vision Pro and the Meta Quest 3, which retails for around $500. It remains unclear weather the October 21st launch will be followed by an immediate global rollout.
