Samsung Galaxy S26: Horizontal Lock Stabilizes Stunning Barcelona Car Videos

Barcelona – Amidst the architectural splendor of Barcelona, a new feature on the Samsung Galaxy S26 is proving surprisingly adept at capturing the city’s automotive elegance. While colleagues attended Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event in San Francisco on Wednesday, unveiling the latest in the Galaxy S series, the Horizontal Lock image stabilization mode has found an immediate, practical application for this reporter: filming the luxury cars that cruise the streets of Spain’s second-largest city.

The Galaxy S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra were officially announced at the event, with the S26 and S26 Plus receiving a $100 price increase, starting at $900 and $1,100 respectively, according to CNET. The launch showcased Samsung’s renewed focus on artificial intelligence, with features designed to integrate seamlessly into daily life, including voice-activated commands from the lock screen.

The Horizontal Lock, however, offers a more immediate benefit for visual content creation. As described by CNET’s Abrar Al-Heeti, the feature maintains a steady horizon even when the phone is tilted or rotated significantly. Initial tests confirmed this functionality, demonstrating smooth footage even with extreme phone movements. This proved invaluable while filming vehicles along Barcelona’s Passeig de Gracia and Carrer d’Arago, allowing for stable video despite a handheld grip.

The ability to capture smooth video while in motion extends beyond simply documenting luxury automobiles. Samsung representatives indicated the new Galaxy S26 series features “AI all over the place,” and the Horizontal Lock could prove crucial in documenting events in challenging circumstances. The feature could potentially salvage footage from shaky recordings, offering a benefit in emergency situations, disaster zones, or conflict areas where stable filming conditions are unlikely.

Beyond these high-stakes scenarios, the Horizontal Lock promises to improve the quality of everyday videos. The feature could elevate casual recordings, making them suitable for sharing on platforms like Reddit, and ensuring a more polished final product for amateur videographers. The Galaxy S26 series, including the S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra, are available for pre-order and will be available in stores on March 11, according to reports from the Unpacked event.

Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event also highlighted a new Qualcomm Snapdragon chip designed specifically for Galaxy devices, promising enhanced performance and AI capabilities. The company is also continuing its partnership with Google, integrating features like Circle to Search and Gemini, while also collaborating with Perplexity. The S26 Ultra, in particular, features a new Privacy Display designed to block off-angle viewing, a feature likely to appeal to users concerned about visual privacy.
