SailGP to Welcome Swedish Team, Artemis, for 2026 Season
Geneva, Switzerland – sailgp today announced the addition of a 13th team to its roster, representing Sweden and backed by the renowned Artemis Racing. The new team will join the global league ahead of the 2026 season, expanding SailGP’s international footprint and intensifying competition.
the inclusion of Artemis Racing marks a significant step in SailGP’s evolution, furthering its aim to transition to a fully privately-owned team model. This follows recent investment in US SailGP Team by Next 3 Ventures and the sale of the final stake in the French team to Ares Management. The league’s growth trajectory is underscored by extended hosting agreements with bermuda through 2028, new York City for 2026 and 2027 (May 30-31 and June 5-6 respectively), and continued hosting rights for Portsmouth, UK, and Dubai, UAE, through 2027.
SailGP was initially established in 2019 with a five-year plan to move towards private team ownership. The addition of Artemis Racing demonstrates considerable progress towards this goal. The 2026 SailGP calendar will begin in January in Perth, Australia, marking a shift to a consolidated schedule within a single calendar year, unlike previous seasons that spanned across the new year.
The league’s continued expansion and financial stability are further evidenced by confirmed events for 2026 and another event slated for 2027.
