AMD Confirms Ryzen 7 9850X3D, Poised to Boost Gaming Performance
AMD has officially acknowledged the upcoming Ryzen 7 9850X3D processor with a listing on its support website, signaling an imminent release. The new chip is expected to deliver a important performance uplift, particularly for gamers, through increased clock speeds.
Rumors of new AMD ryzen processors featuring 3D V-Cache have circulated for months, and the 9850X3D appears to be the most concrete progress. While a separate, higher-end Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 with a potential 192MB of cache has faced conflicting reports, the 9850X3D is shaping up as a more reliable addition to the Ryzen 7000 series. This processor is anticipated to maintain the 8-core, 16-thread configuration of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, alongside a 120W TDP and 96MB of total level 3 cache (32MB L3 + 64MB 3D V-Cache).
The key differentiator for the 9850X3D will be a substantial clock speed increase of 7.7%. This translates to a boost frequency of 5.6 GHz, a 400 MHz jump from the 9800X3D’s 5.2 GHz. This betterment positions the 9850X3D as a potential leader in gaming processor performance upon its release.
