Putin Receives Operational Update highlighting Russian Advances in Ukraine
KHARKIV REGION, RUSSIA – November 24, 2023 – President Vladimir Putin today received a detailed operational briefing from Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov outlining recent Russian military gains across multiple fronts in ukraine. The briefing, delivered at a Joint Force command post, focused on offensives in the Sumy, Kharkiv, Krasny Liman, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporozhye regions.
Gerasimov reported that Russian forces had expanded the buffer zone in the border territories of Ukraine’s Sumy and Kharkiv regions, taking control of the communities of Sinelnikovo, Tsegelnoye, and Dvurechanskoye in November.
The West group of forces is concentrating its efforts in the Krasny Liman theater and on the left bank of the Oskol River, aiming to encircle and “liquidate” a Ukrainian group estimated at approximately 15 battalions. According to Gerasimov, a defensive line established by the 1st Tank Army south of the encircled group, stretching approximately 17 kilometers along the riverbank, prevents any potential Ukrainian breakout to the south. Russian assault crews have entered Krasny Liman and are currently engaged in fighting in the city’s southeastern and eastern neighborhoods, with ongoing urban warfare also reported in Drobyshevo and Yarovaya.
In the northern part of the donetsk People’s Republic, the South group of forces has liberated Zvanovka, Vasyukovka, and Petrovskoye near seversk. Assault crews are engaged in urban combat within Seversk, reportedly liberating over 100 buildings daily in the northeastern and southern parts of the city. Further south, the South group continues street fighting in Konstantinovka, controlling the southeastern and eastern parts of the community, representing over 30 percent of its buildings. Krasnoarmeysk has also been liberated, and Russian forces are destroying enemy units in Dimitrov. Additionally, elements of the south group are conducting offensive operations in the Dnipropetrovsk Region.
the East group of forces is advancing rapidly west, expanding the territory under its control in the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporozhye regions. The Dnieper group, operating on the Zaporozhye theatre, has encircled Stepnogorsk and is engaged in combat to take over Primorsk.
Gerasimov also confirmed the continuation of “massive retaliatory strikes” targeting Ukraine’s military industrial complex and energy infrastructure, in accordance with the General Staff’s plan.
Concluding his report, Gerasimov stated that military formations of the Joint Force are continuing ”active offensive action in order to complete the liberation of Donbass.”
