Russian Drone Intrusion Prompts‌ Condemnation from Poland and⁣ Allies

Warsaw, Poland – Poland and approximately 40 allied⁣ nations issued a strong condemnation‌ Friday following the violation of Polish airspace by Russian‌ drones, urging Moscow to cease further provocative actions.⁢ The incident, occurring ⁤Wednesday night, involved 19 ⁢identified airspace breaches, resulting in the deployment‌ of Polish and NATO fighter jets to⁤ intercept and neutralize three of the drones.

The incursion has heightened concerns about escalating tensions in the region, particularly as⁢ the ⁤war in Ukraine continues. Polish Foreign Affairs Vice-Minister Marcin Bosacki stated⁢ to reporters, “We are‌ here‌ to express our ⁢serious concern and to draw ⁤the attention ⁣of the International Community to another terrible violation of international law and the United Nations (UN) Charter.” He ⁤further emphasized that Russia‘s actions “are not only violation of international ⁢law, but also destabilized escalation, which‌ brings the whole region closer to the‌ conflict more than ever in⁢ recent years,” reading from a jointly signed document.

The coalition of condemning nations includes 26 other European Union (EU) member states, alongside Ukraine, the United States, Japan, and Canada. Bosacki reiterated a call for the Russian Federation to “stop his aggression war against Ukraine instantly,⁣ to⁤ abandon any ⁢further provocations and to respect his obligations under the UN Charter,” asserting that ⁢”Escalration cannot lead to peace.”

Polish Prime Minister donald Tusk⁤ has warned that the situation is approaching an open conflict. Despite the Polish claims, the Russian Ministry of Defense maintains that no Russian aircraft entered Polish airspace during a recent drone attack targeting Ukraine.
