Rare Irish Green Ruf CTR Anniversary Surfaces for Sale, Potentially exceeding $4 Million

Geneva, Switzerland – A stunning, one-of-50 Ruf CTR Anniversary finished in the highly sought-after Irish Green is currently available for sale through Classic Driver, with an estimated price range of $3,000,000 to $4,000,000. this represents a meaningful possibility to acquire a modern masterpiece from the renowned German manufacturer, known for its meticulous Porsche modifications and complete vehicle builds.

For decades, Ruf Automobile has occupied a unique space in the automotive world – not as a tuner, but as a manufacturer in its own right. While many companies modify existing vehicles, Ruf designs, engineers, and builds cars from the ground up, often utilizing Porsche powertrains and aesthetics but exceeding factory performance levels. This philosophy was dramatically solidified around the 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2, transformed by Ruf into the CTR – quickly dubbed “Yellowbird” – a car that established the company’s reputation for uncompromising speed and driver engagement. The Yellowbird, famously driven by Stefan Roser to a then-record 3.7 seconds around the Nürburgring Nordschleife, became an instant icon.

Thirty years later, in March 2017 at the Geneva International Motor Show, ruf unveiled the CTR Anniversary, a direct homage to the Yellowbird and a celebration of the company’s legacy. Unlike simple retro styling exercises, the CTR Anniversary is a thoroughly modern machine. Ruf secured licensing from Porsche to replicate the classic 1980s 911 silhouette, but beneath the familiar lines lies a completely new vehicle.

The Anniversary boasts a revolutionary carbon fibre monocoque chassis, providing exceptional rigidity and lightness, further enhanced by integrated steel roll structures and a rear tubular subframe. Power comes from Ruf’s own 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six engine, a marvel of engineering featuring a dry sump oiling system, water-cooled heads, and forged internal components. This powerplant delivers a formidable 710 horsepower and 649 lb-ft of torque, ensuring breathtaking acceleration and performance. The engine was developed over a three-year period by a team led by Ruf’s chief engineer, Dominique Leuenberger, at the company’s headquarters in Pfaffenhausen, Germany.

This particular example elevates the CTR Anniversary to another level with its striking Irish Green exterior – a color originally offered on the 356 and a favorite among Porsche enthusiasts. The exterior is beautifully contrasted by a dark tan leather interior, featuring classic pepita (houndstooth) seat inserts and matching door panels. Further enhancing the driving experience are foldable Kevlar-carbon fibre bucket seats, an integrated roll cage for added safety, and ruf’s signature five-spoke, centre-lock alloy wheels, showcasing vibrant yellow brake calipers.

The CTR Anniversary is limited to just 50 units, making each one incredibly collectible. This Irish Green example represents a rare opportunity to own a piece of automotive history, blending Ruf’s legendary performance with exquisite craftsmanship and a timeless color combination.
