Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) defeated Colgate University 6-1 in a dominant performance at the Houston Field House in Troy, New York, on Friday night. The Engineers’ victory was fueled by a balanced offensive attack, with six different players scoring goals.
Matthew Buckley opened the scoring for RPI just three minutes into the game, assisted by Filip Sitar and Ian Scherzer. Colgate responded mid-period, but RPI quickly regained the lead less than a minute later with a power-play goal from Luciano Wilson, assisted by Sitar and Buckley. The Engineers then extended their advantage to 3-1 early in the second period with a goal from Tyler Wallace, followed by another from Scherzer just 75 seconds later.
RPI continued its offensive surge in the third period, scoring three more goals within the first two minutes. Rainers Rullers and Alfred Lindberg each found the back of the net, solidifying the Engineers’ commanding lead. Sitar finished the night with three assists, while Buckley, Wallace, and Lindberg each recorded multiple points.
RPI goaltender Nate Krawchuk secured the win with 22 saves, including nine in the first period. The Engineers will next host Dartmouth College on February 20th at 7:00 PM for Hockey Alumni Weekend, according to the Dartmouth College Athletics schedule.
Dartmouth is coming off a 3-1 victory over Harvard on February 6, 2026, as reported by Dartmouth College Athletics. The Dartmouth Alumni website lists a Dartmouth Dialogues event scheduled for February 20, 2026, at 5:00 PM at Spaulding Auditorium, Hopkins Center for the Arts, preceding the hockey game against RPI.
