HONG KONG – Cristiano Ronaldo reached a historic milestone Saturday, becoming the first player to score 100 competitive goals for four different clubs, but Al-Nassr fell to Al-Ahli in a penalty shootout following a 2-2 draw in the Saudi Super Cup final at Hong Kong Stadium.
The 40-year-old Portuguese forward converted a first-half penalty, marking his 100th goal for Al-nassr since joining the club in December 2022. This achievement adds to his previous century tallies with Real Madrid (450 goals), Manchester United (145 goals), and Juventus (101 goals).
ronaldo’s accomplishment surpasses Isidro Langara, Romario, and Neymar, who each scored 100 or more goals for three different clubs. He currently holds the record for most international goals scored, with 138 goals for Portugal.
The match saw Al-Nassr take the led twice. Ronaldo’s penalty in the 41st minute was initially answered by Franck Kessie for Al-Ahli. Marcelo Brozovic then put Al-Nassr ahead again with seven minutes remaining, only for Brazilian defender ibanez to equalize with a header from a corner, forcing the game into a penalty shootout.
during the shootout, Ronaldo successfully converted his attempt, but a missed penalty by al-Nassr’s Abdullah Al-khaibari proved decisive, handing Al-Ahli a 5-3 victory and the first trophy of the Saudi Arabian season.
Despite Ronaldo’s individual achievement,Al-Nassr continues its search for a major trophy as his arrival. The Saudi Super Cup pits the winners of the Saudi Pro League and the King Cup against each other.
