Rockstar Games Announces GTA 6 Release for November 19, 2026
Grand Theft Auto VI will launch worldwide on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, Rockstar Games announced, following a nearly one-year delay from its original 2025 window.
The sixth installment in the open-world franchise arrives more than a decade after its predecessor. Bloomberg Línea reported that Rockstar Games has priced the standard edition at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99 for both consoles. The studio will not issue a traditional physical media disc; retail cases will instead contain a digital download code rather than the game itself.
Players Can Preload Files Starting November 12
Players who purchase the game ahead of time can begin downloading files starting November 12, exactly one week before the official release, according to Rockstar Games. Vandal noted that this early installation window is designed to prevent severe server congestion on launch day.
Both the PlayStation and Xbox digital storefronts indicate that the title will unlock at midnight in each respective region. However, official confirmation regarding a unified global launch schedule remains pending from Rockstar Games, leaving open the possibility that some players may gain access earlier depending on their time zone.
Digital pre-orders across all versions include the Vintage Vice City Pack, which bundles several retro digital items. Beyond the standard software, physical merchandise tied to the rollout includes a vinyl release titled GTA 6: The Album and a collector’s box.
Pre-Orders Generate 600 Million Dollars for Take-Two
The sheer scale of the release has drawn attention from financial analysts and media organizations. A survey conducted by IGN shows that more than 40% of participating users plan to request time off.
Data from SensorTower cited by Diario AS suggests that pre-orders alone have already generated roughly $600 million for parent company Take-Two Interactive. Meanwhile, sports and entertainment franchises have begun aligning promotions with the rollout, including themed promotional nights by the Miami Heat incorporating Vice City aesthetics alongside an on-site Burger Shot installation at the Kaseya Center.

Lucia and Jason Lead a Multi-Protagonist Story
Rockstar Games is returning to a multi-protagonist structure with this release, featuring characters Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval in a modern narrative framework outlined by 3DJuegos. Players will switch between the two leads dynamically during gameplay.
Combat systems introduce specific mechanical distinctions for each character. According to 3DJuegos, Jason possesses an active ability to slow down time during firefights—allowing users to mark multiple targets before returning action to normal speed—akin to mechanics found in previous studio titles. Weapon customization options will also permit adjustments to sights, barrels, and suppressors, while revamped physical altercations aim to expand options during unarmed fights.
