A Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT is now featured prominently in Capcom’s newly released survival horror game, Resident Evil: Requiem, marking an unusual collaboration between the Japanese video game developer and the German automotive manufacturer.
The partnership, announced earlier this month, extends beyond the digital realm. Porsche developed a modified Cayenne Turbo GT showcar, unveiled February 19th in Los Angeles, designed to mirror the vehicle’s in-game counterpart. According to Porsche, the integration into the game was intended to link the design, performance, and brand image of the Cayenne Turbo GT with the game’s protagonist, Leon S. Kennedy.
“An iconic character like Leon fits extremely well with such an exceptional vehicle as the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT,” stated Deniz Keskin, Director Brand Management & Partnerships at Porsche AG.
The collaboration also includes a short film featuring Nick Apostolides, the voice and motion-capture actor for Leon S. Kennedy, demonstrating the Cayenne Turbo GT’s capabilities. The film was released across Porsche’s social media channels, showing Apostolides receiving high-performance driving instruction from Porsche racing legend Patrick Long.
Even as brand integration within video games is not unprecedented, this collaboration highlights a growing trend of convergence between the gaming and lifestyle sectors. Porsche gains access to the global gaming community, while Capcom benefits from increased marketing reach. The Cayenne Turbo GT’s role within Resident Evil: Requiem appears primarily aesthetic, serving as a visual element rather than a core gameplay component, according to early reports.
Porsche acknowledged fan reactions to the vehicle’s inclusion, responding to online jokes about Kennedy’s history with vehicles and whether the Cayenne Turbo GT would survive the game’s events with a lighthearted campaign featuring driving lessons for the character.
The 650 horsepower Cayenne Turbo GT is capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds and reaching a top speed of 190 mph, according to Porsche. The in-game version features unique add-ons designed specifically for Resident Evil: Requiem.
