Shooting at Reno Casino Leaves Multiple Fatalities, Suspect in Custody
Reno, Nev. – A shooting incident at the Casino del Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada, on Monday resulted in an undetermined number of fatalities, with authorities confirming a suspect is in custody.
The tragic event unfolded Monday morning,beginning in the parking area outside the hotel before extending to other sections of the resort property. Reno City Councilor Devon Reese acknowledged the loss of life on social media,calling it “another act of meaningless armed violence.”
The Reno Police Department issued a warning about a “critical incident,” urging the public to avoid the vicinity. While the suspect is no longer considered a threat, further details regarding the motive or the identities of those involved have not yet been released.
Witnesses staying at the hotel shared images on social media depicting the alleged shooter’s apprehension by police in the parking lot. These accounts also indicated the presence of shooting victims.
The United States has seen a meaningful rise in gun violence, with the civil organization Gun Violence Archive reporting at least 249 mass shootings so far in 2025. A mass shooting is defined as an incident where at least four individuals are shot, not including the perpetrator.
