Sony Offers $100 PlayStation Store Credit to New PS5 Owners - But Not Yet in Italy
Sony is currently incentivizing PlayStation 5 purchases in the united States with a $100 PlayStation Store voucher, according to a report from PlayStation LifeStyle. The promotion, dubbed an “upgrader program,” is aimed at encouraging both console sales and subsequent digital purchases.
The program operates on an invitation-only basis. Sony is sending emails to select PlayStation Network (PSN) accounts offering the credit to those who purchase any PS5 model during the month of September. This includes upgrades from a PlayStation 4, replacements of original launch PS5s with the newer Slim models, and even upgrades to the new PS5 models.
To qualify, recipients must activate their new console by September 20th. A notable benefit of the program allows users who purchased a PS5 before August 26th to still claim the voucher, provided they haven’t yet activated the console.
However, each PSN account is limited to a single $100 voucher, preventing users from accumulating multiple credits through additional purchases. This restriction is designed to focus the promotion on genuine console upgrades.Currently, the offer is exclusively available to users in the United States, possibly as a response to recent price increases announced on August 20th. It remains to be seen whether Sony will extend the initiative to other markets, including Italy and Europe, where the offer could prove highly appealing to potential buyers.
