President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi visits Jakarta to strengthen ties with Indonesia
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt arrived at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta on Saturday afternoon, October 10, 2026, for an official state visit aimed at strengthening strategic bilateral ties with Indonesia. The arrival marked El-Sisi’s first visit to the country and served as a reciprocal trip following President Prabowo Subianto’s visits to Egypt in 2024 and 2025.
The aircraft landed at around 17:30 WIB, where the arrival featured an air force flypast alongside traditional Betawi dances accompanied by gambang kromong music, student flag-waving, and a welcoming ceremony led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Arrmanatha Christiawan Nasir and Minister of Political and Security Affairs Dudung Abdurachman.
State Itinerary and Bilateral Agenda
Minister Arrmanatha Christiawan Nasir stated that President Prabowo is scheduled to receive El-Sisi at the Istana Merdeka on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at 10:30 WIB. The agenda includes a welcoming ceremony, a tete-a-tete four-eyes meeting, and formal bilateral talks.
During the meetings, both leaders are set to oversee the signing of multiple memoranda of understanding and a plan of action. The agreements cover visa arrangements, statistical cooperation, fisheries collaboration, and strategic framework enhancements between Indonesia and Egypt.
Jakarta Police Adjust Traffic for El-Sisi Visit
The Indonesian leg follows El-Sisi’s wider Asian tour, which included visits to South Korea from October 6 to 9 and Malaysia from October 9 to 10, 2026. In support of the state visit, the Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Directorate announced temporary traffic adjustments and urged motorists to anticipate delays along nine designated protocol routes, including Jalan HR Rasuna Said, Jalan Prof. Dr. Satrio, Jalan Sudirman, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, and Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat.

Following the conclusion of Sunday’s events at the palace, El-Sisi is scheduled to depart and return to Egypt on Sunday afternoon.
