LVĢMC and Inbox.eu Forecast Rain and Mild Temperatures for Latvia Sunday

LVĢMC and Inbox.eu Forecast Rain and Mild Temperatures for Latvia Sunday

October 10, 2026 Emma Walker – News Editor News

Latvia faces a change in weather starting Sunday, with daytime temperatures peaking between +11 and +17 degrees Celsius depending on the region, according to forecasts from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre and additional reporting by Inbox.eu. Rain is expected across most of the country, accompanied by cloudy skies and potential fog during the night.

Sunday Weather Conditions and Temperature Forecasts Across Latvia

The weather in Latvia will shift following a dry and relatively warm Saturday, bringing a precipitation zone across the national territory on Sunday. The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre (LVĢMC) predicts that daytime air temperatures will not exceed +14 degrees nationwide. However, additional reporting by Inbox.eu notes that daytime highs in certain areas may reach up to +17 degrees. Throughout Sunday, skies will remain mostly overcast, with periodic rain expected across the majority of the country. Heavy downpours are possible in isolated areas. Winds will blow at weak to moderate speeds, predominantly from the south, southwest, and west.

Regional Disparities in Rainfall and Fog Risks

Precipitation will not be distributed evenly. Inbox.eu reports that the main areas affected by rain will be the western regions and Vidzeme, while other parts of the country face a lower likelihood of precipitation. Residents in western Latvia and Vidzeme are advised to anticipate brief showers during outdoor activities. Nighttime temperatures will drop to between +6 and +11 degrees, remaining slightly warmer along the coastal areas. The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre notes that early in the night, southwestern and western coastal winds may still reach gusts of 15 meters per second. As light winds settle over the western and central parts of the country, fog and haze are expected to form overnight and potentially persist into the morning hours. Inbox.eu highlights that these conditions may reduce visibility on roadways, prompting warnings for drivers to exercise caution during night and morning travel.

Weather Conditions in Riga

In the capital, the night leading into Sunday will be cloudy with temperatures hovering between +9 and +10 degrees, accompanied by dry conditions according to Inbox.eu. Fog and haze may develop during the second half of the night. During Sunday daytime, Riga will stay predominantly cloudy with brief periods of rain anticipated. A weak to moderate southern wind will persist. Thermometers in the capital are expected to reach highs of +12 to +13 degrees, while Inbox.eu’s separate reporting places the capital’s daytime peak slightly higher, between +15 and +16 degrees by evening.
