The move follows a recent cabinet reshuffle and coincides with reports suggesting Sara, a niece of presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto, is being considered for the role.
Sara’s departure from the DPR has fueled speculation regarding her future in government. Bambang Haryadi, Secretary of the Gerindra Party Faction in the DPR, addressed the speculation on Thursday, November 9th, stating that Sara’s resignation is not a prerequisite for a ministerial appointment.”If you become a minister, it’s the president’s business. Then the two don’t have to withdraw first,” Bambang clarified during a press conference at the Parliament Complex. He characterized the reports as premature and speculative.
