Prabowo Escorted by Jordan F-16s, Receives Royal Welcome in Amman

Jordanian fighter jets escorted Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s aircraft as it entered Jordanian airspace on Tuesday evening, a gesture of high honor from the Jordanian government, according to reports from Amman.

President Subianto was greeted upon arrival at Marka Military Airport in Amman by Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, demonstrating the significance Jordan places on the visit. The welcoming party also included Indonesian Ambassador to Jordan Ade Padmo Sarwono and Defense Attaché Colonel Laut (P) Dafris D. Syahruddin, alongside high-ranking Jordanian officials.

A guard of honor was present for the arrival ceremony, adding to the formality of the occasion. President Subianto then proceeded directly to his hotel in Amman.

The visit is a working trip intended to strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and Jordan. President Subianto is scheduled to meet with King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein on Wednesday.

This reciprocal honor follows a similar welcome extended to King Abdullah II during his visit to Indonesia in November 2025. At that time, the Indonesian Air Force provided an escort of seven F-16 and three T50 fighter jets for the Jordanian King’s arrival. A further ten Indonesian fighter jets – seven F-16s and three T50s – accompanied King Abdullah II’s departure from Jakarta on November 15, 2025, flying in formation before his plane took off.
