PowerBall & PowerBall Plus: R57 Million Jackpot – March 24, 2026 Results & Odds

March 23, 2026 Priya Shah – Business Editor Business

A winner has claimed the R108-million PowerBall jackpot from Friday’s draw, marking the end of fifteen consecutive rollovers. The win, confirmed by ITHUBA, the National Lottery operator, resets the jackpot for Tuesday’s draw to R52 million, combined with a R5 million PowerBall Plus jackpot, totaling R57 million available to players.

The winning numbers for Friday, March 20, 2026, were 05, 08, 11, 17, and 41, with the PowerBall number 02. For PowerBall Plus, the numbers were 12, 18, 28, 40, and 45, with a PowerBall of 15, according to results published by The Citizen and ZA.LottoNumbers.

This win follows a R179-million PowerBall win in January 2026, making 2026 a lucrative year for lottery players. The January win was the second-highest in PowerBall history, trailing only the R232-million jackpot awarded in 2019.

Players participating in Tuesday’s draw have a 1 in 42,310,200 chance of winning the PowerBall jackpot. A standard PowerBall entry costs R5 per board, with an additional R2.50 for PowerBall Plus, totaling R7.50. The average PowerBall jackpot payout is R22 million, making Tuesday’s R57 million total more than double the average.

Alongside PowerBall and PowerBall Plus, the Lotto and Lotto Plus 1 and 2 games offer a combined jackpot of R74 million. Lotto entries cost R5 per board, with an additional R2.50 for Plus 1 and 2, totaling R10. The odds of winning the Lotto jackpot are slightly better, at 1 in 40,310,358. The average Lotto jackpot payout is R5.95 million, making the current jackpot almost twelve times the average.

Tickets for Tuesday’s PowerBall and PowerBall Plus draws are available until 8:30 PM, thirty minutes before the official draw at 9:00 PM. Tickets can be purchased at participating retailers, via the National Lottery website, or through the National Lottery Mobile App.

Prize claims vary depending on the amount won. Retail stores pay out winnings up to R2,000. Winnings between R10,000 and R49,999 must be claimed at an Approved Prize Payment Centre (APPC). Banks will pay winnings between R49,999 and R249,999 via EFT, with the exception of African Bank, which has a limit of R49,999. Winnings exceeding R250,000 require an in-person claim at an ITHUBA office.

ITHUBA will be replaced as the National Lottery operator in June 2026, but operations remain unchanged until then.
