The Unión Musical Porteña’s Banda Sinfónica will perform a concert on Saturday, March 7th, at the Teatro de Begoña in Puerto de Sagunto, Valencia, as part of events honoring International Women’s Day.
Originally scheduled for March 8th, the concert was moved to March 7th due to scheduling conflicts, according to reports. The performance is slated to begin at 7:30 PM.
The Teatro de Begoña previously hosted concerts in honor of Santa Cecilia, the patron saint of musicians, organized by the Unión Musical Porteña. Those concerts too took place at 7:30 PM. Recent growth in the number of groups within the Unión Musical Porteña has presented logistical challenges for staging performances at the Teatro de Begoña, particularly when both the Banda Sinfónica and the Coro are involved.
On March 12th, the Teatro de Begoña will also be the site of a conference presented by the Unión Musical Porteña focusing on the role of women in music, alongside the presentation of a “Mapa de Creadoras de la Historia de la Música.” This event is scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM.
The Unión Musical Porteña also held a Concierto Homenaje a la Mujer at the Teatro de Begoña, with Jorge Pérez conducting.
