Police Arrive by Train to Raid Kampung Bahari Drug Den in North Jakarta
On Sunday, November 1, 2026, hundreds of joint security forces including the Indonesian National Police, the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), and the Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) launched a coordinated raid on Kampung Bahari in North Jakarta. Departing from Tanjung Priok Station, tactical teams utilized a specially coordinated Electric Rail Train (KRL) to deploy directly along the railway tracks into the neighborhood, apprehending 27 individuals and seizing illicit narcotics and weaponry.
KAI Commuter Arranges Special Train for Police Operation
The operation relied on tactical multi-directional entry to surprise suspected traffickers operating in shanties lining the tracks. PT KAI Commuter arranged a special passenger train journey, designated as KLB, departing Jakarta Kota for Tanjung Priok at approximately 06:25 AM on Sunday, November 1. KAI Commuter VP Corporate Secretary Karina Amanda stated in an official release that the police-coordinated movement did not disrupt regular commuter schedules to Tanjung Priok, though three regular trips experienced minor delays of four to 19 minutes due to crowds gathering on the tracks during the raid.
Hundreds of police personnel disembarked directly from the train onto the tracks to secure the area, forcefully breaching suspected narcotics shacks despite meeting resistance from individuals throwing firecrackers.
Seized Narcotics and Arrest Statistics
Law enforcement uncovered quantities of illegal substances and contraband during the sweep of the railway shanties. Among the 27 individuals detained, preliminary examinations identified three as drug users and one as a property owner possessing psychotropic pills. Officers seized hundreds of grams of methamphetamine, quantities of marijuana, thousands of ecstasy pills, and an ecstasy-manufacturing machine. Authorities also recovered firearms, sharp weapons, and glass bongs used for consuming narcotics.
Director of Narcotics Investigation at the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Bismo Teguh Prakoso, confirmed that active drug transactions were still taking place at roadside shanties during the raid, prompting authorities to pledge continued operations and structural demolitions.

“Yes, still. Therefore, we will continue to carry out this operation in various places and also pursue the syndicate boss,” Bismo stated.
Officials Plan to Dismantle Shacks Along Rail Corridor
Following the sweep, municipal and law enforcement officials outlined measures to prevent the neighborhood from reverting to narcotics distribution hubs. Urban planning interventions and social resilience reinforcement are under consideration for the area, which houses numerous informal waste pickers. Officials emphasized the necessity of identifying and registering local laborers to establish orderly residential and livelihood management. Meanwhile, police confirmed plans to dismantle the temporary shacks built along the rail corridor to eliminate the physical infrastructure utilized for drug transactions.
