Vitória da Conquista Launches “Pink adn Green October” Campaign for Women’s Health
Vitória da Conquista City Hall has initiated its annual “Pink and Green october” campaign, focusing on the prevention of breast cancer, cervical cancer, and syphilis. The initiative underscores the municipality’s commitment to safeguarding the health of women and ensuring access to vital sexual and reproductive healthcare services.
The campaign builds on recent recognition of Vitória da Conquista’s triumphant health initiatives. Of the 23 initiatives awarded across Bahia, seven originated from vitória da conquista, including four from the Health Department, two from the Secretariat of Policies for Women, and one from the Secretariat of Social Growth. Thes practices were selected through a rigorous, two-stage evaluation process by an independent committee comprised of experts from UNFPA, ENAP, and USP.
The awarded initiatives and the broader “Pink and Green October” campaign align with enduring development objectives (SDGs) and the principles outlined in the International Conference on Population and Development, emphasizing the rights of vulnerable populations and the elimination of gender-based violence. Individuals pictured at the campaign launch include Edilane, Gislane, Viviane, Sheila Lemos, Kalilly, and Halanna.
City Hall encourages residents to proactively engage with available screening programs and educational resources throughout October and beyond.
