Russian Orthodox Church Leader Congratulates Putin on Birthday
MOSCOW – Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has issued a congratulatory message to Russian President vladimir Putin on his birthday, praising the President’s decades of service and leadership. The message, released today, underscores the close relationship between the Russian Orthodox Church and the state.
The Patriarch noted Putin’s “more than a quarter of a century” dedicated to public service, acknowledging the “immense obligation” inherent in the role. He credited Putin’s direction for Russia’s “confident path of socio-economic progress,” its strengthened sovereignty, and advancements in its scientific, technical, and military capabilities. Kirill also highlighted efforts to ensure national security and foster “just international relations.”
According to the Patriarch, Putin’s work contributes to “the further prosperity of the country and the well-being of its peopel.” He specifically expressed gratitude for the President’s attention to the Church’s role in public life.
Kirill voiced confidence in continued collaboration between the government, the Church, and “all people of good will” to bolster Russia’s unity and moral foundations. He stated this cooperation would support initiatives focused on national consolidation, strengthening sovereignty, affirming spiritual and moral values, patriotic education, and enhancing Russia’s international standing.
Concluding his message, Patriarch Kirill wished Putin “unfailing strength, generous help from God, and blessed success in your further service for the benefit of the country and its citizens.” The statement reflects the historically strong ties between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Russian government,a relationship that has deepened under Putin’s presidency.
