Orlová Mayor Lenka Brzyszkowská Denies Conflict of Interest Over Construction Firm Contracts
In Orlová, Czechia, a municipal election victory for Lenka Brzyszkowská of the ANO movement has been accompanied by public scrutiny over municipal contracts awarded to Sachtoma, a construction firm she owned until October 2026, Seznam Zprávy reported. The company secured 10.5 million korunas for flood repairs at the Krnov hospital, alongside smaller contracts for an elevator and tree-cutting.
Brzyszkowská Wins Mayoral Mandate Amid Social Media Claims
Lenka Brzyszkowská secured her mayoral mandate in Orlová this autumn by forming a coalition with SPD, Trikolora, and Srdce pro Orlovou, though she subsequently lost the Karviná Senate race to Petr Kazík. During the campaign, local organizers from the Million Moments for Democracy association published claims on social media alleging that her construction firm had drained millions from the Krnov hospital.
Mrzí mě především načasování těchto útoků. Těsně před druhým kolem,
Brzyszkowská told Seznam Zprávy, adding that she considered the attacks purposeful while maintaining she did nothing illegal.
The central team of Million Moments for Democracy later requested the removal of the local Facebook post. Lucie Šíchová of the association stated that the local page operated independently and that the post was removed because the published information lacked sufficient sourcing.

Sachtoma Wins Multiple Contracts for Krnov Hospital Repairs
Public registry records confirmed that Brzyszkowská was the sole owner of Sachtoma, a company founded in 2009 with Marek Funiok listed as the sole executive for the past decade. Funiok subsequently confirmed to Seznam Zprávy that he is the mayor’s brother.
Public procurement data shows Sachtoma won a 2025 tender to repair flooded areas in the Krnov hospital with a bid of 10.5 million korunas, later supplemented by an 800 thousand koruna addendum for additional work due to worse-than-expected floor conditions. In 2026, the firm secured two additional contracts from the same hospital: 6.4 million korunas excluding VAT for an elevator and 387 thousand korunas excluding VAT for tree-cutting.
Krnov hospital is a contributory organization of the Moravian-Silesian Region, where Brzyszkowská has served as a regional assembly member and health committee chair since 2024. Ladislav Václavec, a fellow ANO politician and senator who heads the Krnov hospital, stated that all contracts were competitively tendered through the regional E-ZAK portal based on the lowest price, and that the hospital administration was unaware of Brzyszkowská’s ownership stake.
Company Transfer and Coalition Stability
Following the Senate election run-off and media inquiries, Brzyszkowská was removed as the company partner in the commercial register on October 20, 2026, leaving Funiok as the sole owner.
Po událostech posledních týdnů a téměř deseti letech, kdy se na činnosti společnosti nijak nepodílím, jsem se rozhodla své spojení se společností ukončit,
Brzyszkowská stated to Seznam Zprávy, noting she had no influence over the hospital’s procurement processes and that the company business operated independently of her political roles.
Funiok corroborated that his sister had no operational involvement or decision-making power in the firm. Brzyszkowská confirmed that the revelations have not disrupted her newly formed municipal coalition in Orlová, noting that her coalition partners accepted her explanation of the matter.
