Las Vegas restaurants face wave of closures across multiple neighborhoods

Las Vegas restaurants face wave of closures across multiple neighborhoods

October 29, 2026 Emma Walker – News Editor News

Las Vegas restaurants faced a severe wave of closures through the end of summer and into the fall, with dozens of establishments shutting their doors due to rising costs, lease disputes, and legal battles.

Las Vegas restaurants closed in large numbers across multiple neighborhoods, including long-standing local favorites and high-profile casino venues. The departures span fine-dining sushi counters in Chinatown, historic neighborhood pubs, and quick-service counters inside major resort food halls.

Lotus of Siam and Naxos Taverna at Red Rock Resort

Court documents allege that the partnership between Penny Chutima—daughter of founder and James Beard Award winner Saipin Chutima—and Bua Food Group’s Lou Abin soured after Abin altered recipes and threw party brunches that harmed the Lotus brand. Red Rock Resort also cut all ties with Abin’s other restaurants, including Naxos Taverna. Both locations closed on October 29.

The closure brings an end to years of drama surrounding the Red Rock location, which originally opened in 2022.

Durango Resort Food Hall and Strip Closures

Durango Resort continued the purge of its food hall, announcing the closures of Uncle Paulie’s Deli on September 30, along with Yu-Or-Mi Sushi and Vesta Coffee Roasters, both shutting down on November 10. This follows Villa’s Tacos replacing Marc Vetri’s Fiorella Pasta Bar earlier in the year.

On the Las Vegas Strip, David Chang’s local restaurant empire shrank further when quick-service eatery Bang Bar by Momofuku closed inside the Cosmopolitan food hall on October 4. Chang once operated four restaurants in the city and now retains only Momofuku.

Spiegelworld closed Diner Ross Steakhouse on September 26, following the closure of its companion “DiscoShow” at the LINQ in January. Both venues had opened on September 7, 2024, but struggled out of the gate.

Additional Strip casualties include Crush American Grill at the MGM Grand, which permanently closed on September 12 after years of serving burgers, steaks, and wood-fired pizzas under restaurateurs Jenna and Michael Morton. Luckley Tavern & Grill at Rio Las Vegas also shuttered, making way for Revolution Tavern & Grill as part of a wider casino turnover that previously saw the closure of Hash House A Go Go and Guy Fieri’s El Burro Borracho.

Resorts World saw the departure of Los Angeles-based Mulberry Street Pizza on September 14 after five years in operation. Founder Ritchie Palmer addressed the closure on Instagram, writing, Resorts World was Mulberry’s first location outside of California, so it’s been an important chapter for the brand and one we’re incredibly proud of. Our store was a thriving success from beginning to end…we would like to thank the more than one million customers we’ve had the privilege of serving over the past five years. Las Vegas…we’re not cashing out! See you soon. Amici New York Pizzeria has already replaced Mulberry in the resort.

Neighborhood Shutterings and Historic Departures

Outside the resort corridors, neighborhood staples and long-running independent businesses also succumbed to financial pressures. Yui Edomae Sushi closed on September 24 after 11 years in business, shocking customers with the announcement from its owners to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Chapala’s Mexican Restaurant is bowing out as its owners retire. Jose Flores announced that he and his siblings will close the eastside Tropicana Avenue restaurant in November, ending a run that began in 1965 serving fajitas and fried whole tilapia to generations of customers.

The Eagle, a historic Las Vegas gay bar that opened in 1988, closed its doors on September 30 after nearly 40 years. In an Instagram statement, owners shared: To everyone who has walked through our doors, sat at our bar, danced with us, sang with us, celebrated with us, worked alongside us, and supported the Eagle through every chapter, thank you. This space has always been about the people on both sides of the bar, and we could not have made it this far without you.

Las Vegas restaurants under pressure

Bad Beat Brewing in the Arts District closed its taproom and brewery on August 2 after 12 years of operation. After 12 years, we finally found a hand we couldn’t win, owners wrote on Instagram, attributing the closure to rising costs.
