Onishchenko explained criticism of restrictive measures due to COVID-19 :: Society :: RBC

Restrictive measures due to the spread of coronavirus infection should not be harsh, but “adequate”. About it stated Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the first deputy chairman of the State Duma for education and science Gennady Onishchenko in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda.

According to Onishchenko, there was still little information about COVID-19 in winter and spring: there was no experience in treating and preventing this disease. Therefore, the authorities agreed to “a total, ill-considered, unprecedented closure of everything and everyone.”

“Now we have everything. There are diagnostics, the most important thing that we have is a means of specific prevention, that is, a vaccine. And, the most important thing is that we have learned how to treat it – this COVID, ”Onishchenko said.

The parliamentarian added that as a result of strict restrictive measures, there was a spike in deaths in the summer due to restrictions on physical activity, stress and “coronavirus-mediated diseases.”
