Novak Djokovic’s Marbella Mansion: Inside His €10M Family & Training Base

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

Novak Djokovic’s life outside of tennis is increasingly centered around a palatial estate in Marbella, Spain, purchased in 2020 for approximately ten million euros. The property, located in the exclusive Sierra Blanca estate near Marbella’s Golden Mile, has evolved from a vacation home to the primary residence for the Serbian tennis star, his wife Jelena, and their children, Stefan and Tara.

Djokovic initially rented the Moroccan-style villa during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown before ultimately acquiring it. The nine-bedroom, eight-bathroom mansion spans roughly 1,000 square meters and offers views of both the Mediterranean Sea and the surrounding mountains. The interior features a minimalist aesthetic, emphasizing light tones and natural materials like wood.

Beyond its size, the estate is designed to support Djokovic’s demanding athletic lifestyle and provide a private family environment. Amenities include a private cinema room, a state-of-the-art gym, a spa complete with a jacuzzi, and a games room with billiards. Crucially, the property boasts a private tennis court, allowing Djokovic to train without public scrutiny.

However, Djokovic’s renovation of the property in 2022 without securing the necessary permits led to legal issues with the Marbella Council. He was issued two fines of €5,000 each for violating Andalusian Land Law, specifically regulations concerning building height, the number of floors, and boundary distances. Authorities subsequently ordered the demolition of unauthorized works, including a basement parking area and a porch, with the threat of additional fines if he failed to comply.

Despite the legal challenges, the Marbella estate has become central to Djokovic’s life as he navigates the later stages of his professional career. With 24 Grand Slam titles and a record number of weeks ranked as world number one, the property represents the culmination of his success, allowing him to balance rigorous physical preparation with the privacy his family requires. He owns other properties including a penthouse in Belgrade, Serbia, a Miami property, and previously owned a penthouse in Monte Carlo, Monaco, before trading it for the Marbella estate in 2020.

Djokovic too maintains a residence in New York City and properties in Porto Montenegro and Spain, according to reports. His Miami home, located in North Beach, is within the Eighty Seven Park complex, a luxury condominium designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Renzo Piano, and features sustainable design elements.
