Nothing unveiled the design of its forthcoming Phone (4a) today, eschewing the more radical design of the Phone (3) in favor of a more conventional aesthetic, according to an official photo released by the company. The launch is scheduled for March 5, 2026, and will be accompanied by the release of the Headphone (a), a recent over-ear headset.
The Phone (4a) features a triple camera arrangement and a redesigned “Glyph Bar” consisting of nine individual mini LEDs, which Nothing claims are 40% brighter than those on the Phone (3). This marks a departure from the Phone (3)’s more complex Glyph Matrix, a feature that the company has seemingly scaled back following initial reception. According to Android Authority, the Phone 3’s design presented challenges for case manufacturers, with limited reliable options available at launch.
The shift in design appears to address practical concerns raised by users of the Phone (3). The Android Authority review noted difficulties in finding suitable cases for the Phone 3 due to its unique form factor. The Phone (4a)’s more standard camera bump is expected to improve case compatibility. A poll conducted alongside the Android Authority article indicated that 61% of respondents liked the new design, viewing it as an upgrade over the Phone 3.
Nothing CEO and founder Carl Pei has stated that the (a) models are traditionally the company’s biggest sellers, and his aim is to elevate them closer to a flagship experience. The company has too revealed a pink color variant of the Phone (4a), according to Hypebeast.com.
Alongside the Phone (4a), Nothing will also launch the Headphone (a), according to GSMarena.com. This suggests a broader product push aimed at offering more accessible price points within the Nothing ecosystem. The launch date for both the Phone (4a) and Headphone (a) is set for March 5, 2026.
