nothing Ear (3) launches Globally, Introducing a Unique “Super Mic” Feature
[City, State] – February 2, 2024 – Nothing has officially released its latest wireless earbuds, the Ear (3), marking the fourth generation of the company’s popular audio product. Available now for $179 from retailers and the official Nothing website, the Ear (3) builds upon the brand’s signature transparent design while introducing several key upgrades and a particularly innovative feature.
The new earbuds feature larger 12mm dynamic drivers – an increase from the 11mm drivers in previous models - promising enhanced bass performance and an overall improved audio experience. Maintaining the brand’s aesthetic, the Ear (3) also incorporates a charging case constructed with recycled metal elements.
Perhaps the most striking addition is the “Super Mic” function integrated directly into the charging case. Activated by a dedicated ”talk” button, the case transforms into an external microphone for calls and voice notes, boasting noise reduction capabilities of up to 95dB, according to Nothing. This feature appears strategically positioned to capitalize on the growing trend of content creation, particularly on platforms like TikTok, where portable lavalier microphones are increasingly popular. The company likely anticipates that viral content featuring the case as a microphone could drive sales.
Users can utilize the case’s microphone by holding it close to the mouth when the earbuds’ built-in microphones are insufficient. Battery life for the Ear (3) is approximately 5.5 hours with active Noise Cancellation (ANC) enabled, and nearly 10 hours with ANC disabled. When paired with the charging case, total listening time extends to 22 hours with ANC and 38 hours without. A fast 10-minute charge provides up to 10 hours of playback.
Connectivity is powered by Bluetooth 5.4, and the Ear (3) supports the LDAC codec for higher-resolution audio on compatible devices. Nothing has also focused on optimizing latency for gaming and ensuring precise audio-video synchronization.
The nothing Ear (3) represents a compelling entry into the competitive wireless earbud market, and its unique features position it as a potentially standout product of the year.
