The property, built in 1868 for engineer Edward Gotto, has a complex past. It gained notoriety in 1986 when Michael Rudetsky, 27, died of a heroin overdose in the living room while visiting culture Club singer Boy George, who then owned the home. Despite the tragic history, sources say Kidman was drawn to the estate’s beauty and space. “If you put aside what must’ve gone on in that house over the years, it is stunning, in a beautiful location and it has lots of space,” one insider revealed. “It’s made for a Hollywood star. It’s close to Hampstead Heath, which is a draw for stars used to living in America.”
The mansion boasts five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a cinema, a roof terrace, and a meditation room. Boy George, 64, lived in the property until 2022, when he sold it for over $30 million after undertaking a three-year renovation project that included rejoining it with a neighboring property previously owned by Sam Smith.
An insider close to the couple noted the unusual living arrangement, stating, ”no one knows how long thay can put up with this situation as they’ve always been diligent about not spending more than two weeks apart. Clearly that’s not the case anymore.”
