New⁢ Škoda Fabia⁣ Confirmed, But performance⁢ Variant Unlikely

A⁤ new Škoda Fabia‍ has⁤ been spotted testing in the Czech Republic, ⁢signaling the imminent arrival of the fourth ‍generation of the⁤ popular supermini. Though, ‌despite enthusiast anticipation, sources indicate a high-performance “RS” variant is not currently planned. This news⁤ follows‌ a decade since ‌the ‌last Fabia RS, leaving fans of the sporty hatchback possibly disappointed.

The previous Fabia RS,discontinued⁤ in 2014,was offered as both a hatchback and station wagon, powered by a‍ 132 kW turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired⁢ with a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG transmission. The original RS, launched in ⁤2003, uniquely ⁤featured a 96 kW‌ 1.9-liter turbocharged diesel ⁤engine, achieving ⁣a ⁣0-100 km/h time of approximately 7 seconds despite official figures of 9.6 seconds. While the third generation Fabia lacked a full RS model, a limited ‌Edition R5 – ⁢of which 300 units were⁤ allocated too the Czech republic – offered a 92 kW turbocharged petrol engine and ‍a 0-100 km/h time of 8.8 seconds.

The discontinuation of ‌the RS badge for the third ⁣generation and the current outlook for‍ the fourth suggest Škoda is ⁢prioritizing other aspects of the Fabia’s advancement, potentially focusing on fuel efficiency, technology, and broader market appeal.
