New Naruto Crossover Anime and Masashi Kishimoto Manga Revealed at NYCC
At New York Comic Con inside the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, voice cast members, a Studio Pierrot executive producer, and a Bandai representative revealed a new “Naruto” crossover anime series with “NINKŪ,” a new manga by Masashi Kishimoto titled “Shadow Rising,” and production updates on the upcoming live-action film.
New Anime and Manga Projects Announced at New York Comic Con
Author Masashi Kishimoto and “NINKŪ” creator Koji Kiriyama will supervise the project, which follows Team 7 members Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura receiving a mission from Kakashi. With Kakashi absent, Naruto acts as acting leader before the trio gets lost in a strange new world and encounters a frog-faced boy named Fūsuke.
That announcement arrived during a dedicated panel featuring Japanese voice actors Takeuchi Junko and Sugiyama Noriaki alongside Studio Pierrot executive producer Tominaga Yoshihiko and a Bandai representative. The panel concluded with a teaser video revealing Kishimoto’s new manga, “Shadow Rising,” with additional details slated for Jump Festa 2027 in December.
Live-Action Film Production Updates
Alongside the animation and publishing updates, the panel shared a statement from live-action “Naruto” movie director Destin Daniel Cretton regarding the ongoing search for Team 7 and production progress. Cretton stated that the creative team is approaching Kishimoto’s world with care to capture the spirit of a character who is often underestimated but possesses an incredible heart.

Viz Media also highlighted updates for the Naruto Card Game during the convention appearance. The original manga, serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1999 to 2014 across 700 chapters, has sold more than 250 million copies in over 60 countries and regions since its debut.
