New Magus Class and 6 Subclasses Arrive on D&D Beyond
Dungeons and Dragons players can now purchase and play a brand-new class and six subclasses through a partnered content release on D&D Beyond. Priced at $14.99, the new official release introduces the Magus class to the 5.5e ruleset, offering characters that blend martial combat with mystical powers.
The Magus Class and Ruleset Integration
Created by Sterling Vermin Adventuring Co., the Magus class targets players seeking a hybrid playstyle of spell and steel. Magi wield magic and weapons in tandem, allowing them to render adversaries vulnerable with a single look and deploy defensive or offensive sigils. The $14.99 bundle on D&D Beyond includes the full core class, over 30 new spells that also expand spell lists for other classes, and 20 specific magic items tailored for gish character builds.
Because the release relies on partnered content rather than core rulebook material, players must consult with their Dungeon Master before bringing a Magus character to the table. D&D Beyond maintains a scheduled lineup of partnered releases slated for the remainder of 2026 and heading into 2027.
Six Subclasses Offer Distinct Thematic Archetypes
The release features six distinct subclasses, each tailored to specific thematic archetypes within the multiverse. The Arcane Order focuses on defending arcane architecture, while Heaven’s Guard aims to bring celestial influence to the material plane. Knight’s Stygian haunts the unrighteous, and the Shadow Court fights for control from hidden domains. Rounding out the selection, the Sidereal Cabal centers on mastering destiny, and the Sylvan Circle protects wild creatures and natural wonders.
Players can access the content digitally through D&D Beyond and Roll20, alongside physical availability at local game shops.
