Netflix Secures High-Stakes Action Thriller with Joel Edgerton, ‘Rebel Ridge’ Director
Netflix has won a competitive bidding war for a new action thriller series, solidifying a streak of premium content acquisitions this fall. Teh series, currently titled Trigger Point, will star Joel Edgerton as Red, a former Tier One special forces operator who now utilizes his skills for organized crime, operating under the guise of a private security company.An FBI agent will pursue Red and his team,determined to expose their illicit activities.
The project marks a significant win for Netflix as it continues to expand its library of high-profile series. Coming on the heels of deals for Black Hole and Rabbit, Rabbit starring Adam Driver, Trigger Point demonstrates the platform’s commitment to securing top-tier talent and compelling narratives. For A24, this is the second series order in six weeks, following Discretion with Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning for Paramount+.
Jeremy Saulnier, acclaimed for his work on Rebel Ridge for Netflix, will direct Trigger Point. Harrison Query will serve as showrunner, bringing a track record of successful scripts including Code Black, sold to Amazon with Jake Gyllenhaal attached, and Heads of State, starring John Cena and idris Elba, which became one of Netflix’s most-watched films this summer. The series represents a potent combination of talent poised to deliver a gripping thriller to audiences.
