Netflix Assures Subscribers “Nothing Is Changing Today” Following Warner Bros. Finding Acquisition Declaration
LOS ANGELES - Netflix today sought to reassure subscribers following it’s announcement of a deal to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery, including its film and television studios, HBO Max and HBO. In a letter to subscribers, Netflix stated, “Nothing is changing today.Both streaming services will continue to operate separately.”
the acquisition unites Netflix’s existing library – featuring hits like Stranger Things, Wednesday, Squid Game, Bridgerton and KPop Demon Hunters – with Warner Bros.’ iconic franchises including Harry Potter, Friends, The Big Bang Theory, Casablanca, and Game of Thrones, and also the DC Universe. The deal, though, remains subject to regulatory and shareholder approvals.
Netflix detailed in its letter that further updates will be provided as the acquisition process progresses. “We have more steps to complete before the deal is closed… You’ll hear from us when we have more to share,” the company stated. Subscribers were directed to Netflix’s help Center for additional information.
The company emphasized its commitment to continued service. “In the meantime,we hope you’ll continue to enjoy watching as much as you want,whenever you want – all on your current membership plan,” Netflix wrote.”We’re committed to bringing you more great TV shows, movies, games and live programming.”
