Nest Doorbell on Sale: Save $40 at Amazon, Best Buy & Target | The Verge
Google’s Nest Doorbell is currently available for $139.99, a $40 discount, at Amazon, Best Buy and Target, ahead of Amazon’s Big Spring Sale beginning March 25th.
Unlike Ring’s battery-powered Video Doorbell, which requires a paid subscription for smart alerts, Google’s Nest Doorbell provides person, package, and animal detection notifications through the Google Home app without a subscription fee. Users receive alerts when a package arrives and another when it is picked up. A Google Home Premium subscription, priced at $10 per month or $100 annually, extends event-based recording history to 30 days and unlocks the Familiar Faces tool, enabling the doorbell to identify visitors.
The Nest Doorbell records video at 960 x 1280 resolution and offers up to 6x digital zoom. It utilizes a 3:4 portrait aspect ratio and a 145-degree field of view. The device also features night vision and two-way audio. It integrates with the Google ecosystem, allowing live video streams to be displayed on compatible Google TV devices, Nest smart displays, and Echo smart displays.
Target currently offers the 2nd Generation wired Nest Doorbell in Ash, even as a 3rd Generation wired model with Gemini is available in Linen. Both models feature motion activation and night vision. Best Buy also lists the 3rd generation Nest Doorbell, highlighting its 2K video and Gemini integration.
Google offers a smart home skill to connect Nest devices to Amazon’s Alexa home control system, though some Nest features may not be fully compatible.
