Bulgarian-Born Volleyball star Neriman Özsoy Joins Jakarta Electric PLN
Jakarta, Indonesia – In a notable boost for the Indonesian volleyball league, Jakarta Electric PLN has announced the signing of veteran outside hitter Neriman Özsoy. The move brings the highly-regarded player back to Indonesia, where she previously competed for Jakarta Popsivo Polwan in the 2024/25 season.
Born in Razgrad, Bulgaria in 1988, Özsoy has forged a remarkable international career, becoming a prominent figure in the Turkish volleyball system. Standing at 1.88m tall,she is renowned for her powerful hitting and all-around skills,honed over hundreds of high-level matches.
A Global Career Built on excellence
Özsoy’s professional journey began with Eczacıbaşı in Turkey, quickly establishing her as a rising star. Her talent soon attracted attention from some of Europe’s most competitive leagues. She spent several seasons in Russia, playing for Uralochka NTMK and Dinamo Krasnodar, experiencing the rigorous training and demanding standards of Russian volleyball.
Her career has been a truly global affair, with stints in Turkey (Karşıyaka, galatasaray, Türk Hava yolları), poland (Atom Trefl Sopot), Italy (Imoco Conegliano, Modena), Japan (Toyota Auto Body Queenseis, NEC Red Rockets, Denso Airybees), and Brazil (Itambé Minas). This diverse experience has equipped her with a unique understanding of different playing styles and tactical approaches.
Özsoy’s return to Indonesia with Jakarta Electric PLN is expected to significantly strengthen the team’s performance for the remainder of the season. Her experience and leadership will be invaluable as they compete in the league.
